This map gathers real-world places that appear in — or inspire — scenes from anime and manga. The rule is simple: nothing is made up. Every point is backed by public, verifiable sources, and here we explain how we work so you can check for yourself.
We only add places that exist in the real world and can be visited or seen. We sort them into five categories, each with its own marker:
The last three (tribute, museum, park) are not settings from the work: they pay homage to it and can be hidden with the "show tributes" filter.
It doesn't matter if the place has a different name in the series: if the real location exists and the setting is based on it, we include it as a location. We only leave out places from purely fictional worlds with no real referent at all (unless there is a physical monument or tribute you can actually visit).
For every point we follow the same process: we identify the place from one or more pilgrimage (seichi junrei) sources, find its official name, then obtain exact coordinates from geographic databases and cross-check them on the map and in street view before publishing.
To keep the map and the cards uncluttered, we don't cite sources point by point: below is the full list of every source consulted.
Named POIs (stations, castles, parks, shrines) are pinned at building level. Small points (a canal bridge, a stretch of street) are placed by address, accurate to roughly 50–100 m, and noted in the description.
This is a living project made with care, but it may contain mistakes. If you spot a mislocated point or a wrong identification, write to us at seikas.com and we'll review it.
