Sunrise's mecha saga begun by Yoshiyuki Tomino (1979): in space wars between Earth and its colonies, young pilots operate giant "mobile suit" robots. Its universe (the Universal Century) is fictional; the real destination is the monumental life-size statue in Fukuoka.
