It is set in Sumida, in Tokyo's old-town shitamachi — Kinshichō, Oshiage and the Skytree, which appears broken in half — plus Asakusa across the river.

Sensō-ji Temple and Kaminarimon Gateepisodes 5 and 12

Episode 5 shows the Kaminarimon gate with its Raijin and Fūjin statues, the Nakamise shopping street and the inside of the main hall; episode 12 shows the inner Hōzōmon gate and the five-storey pagoda. It is Tokyo's most visited temple: early in the morning there are far fewer people.

Tokyo Skytreethe broken tower

From episode 1, the tower appears broken in half, as the old radio tower destroyed in the incident that marks Chisato's past. There are more scenes around it: the Solamachi plaza in the opening and, in episode 8, the Sky Arena terrace and a shoot-out inside the official Skytree shop.

Sumida Aquariumthe episode 4 outing
location
Chisato and Takina spend their day off here in episode 4, after meeting at exit B3 of Oshiage Station, and it is where their famous "sakanaaa!" and garden-eel gag begins. The aquarium entrance appears again in episode 9. The fish in the series do not all match those in the real aquarium.

This small fishing pond in Sumida Park, on the Sumida (east) side of the river, appears in episode 9. It can be seen from outside, beside the park path, with the Skytree in the background.

This park next to Kinshichō Station, in the Sumida neighbourhood where the series is set, appears in episode 1 in a conversation between Chisato and Takina, with the broken Skytree in the background. The surrounding buildings do not match, but the blue road sign does.
