Its regions are fictional (loosely based on real regions of Japan); the real pilgrimage is the official "Pokéfuta" manhole covers and the Pokémon Centers spread across the country.

Yokohama has several official Pikachu manhole covers around the Minato Mirai area. The Pokéfuta are official street art and a target for "manhole-hunting" pilgrimages.

Tottori has a Pokéfuta in every municipality, all featuring Sandshrew as a nod to its famous sand dunes. Next to the Tottori Sand Dunes it's one of the most emblematic stops of the Pokémon pilgrimage.
